Steph Curry wins first Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP award

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been named the 2022 Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, marking the first time he has received the award in his illustrious career.

Curry led the Warriors to their fourth NBA championship in eight years with a dominant performance in the Finals, averaging 31.2 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while shooting 48.2% from the field and 43.7% from three-point range.

In Game 6 of the Finals, Curry exploded for 34 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead the Warriors to a 103-90 victory over the Boston Celtics and clinch the title. He was particularly effective in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 points and hitting three three-pointers to put the game away.

Curry's performance in the Finals was a fitting culmination to a remarkable season for the Warriors, who finished with the best record in the NBA and cruised through the playoffs. Curry was at the heart of the Warriors' success, averaging 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game during the regular season.

The Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP award is named after the legendary Boston Celtics center who won 11 NBA championships during his career. Curry is the first player to win the award since LeBron James in 2018.
